How well does sperm freeze?
Most sperm cells freeze successfully—about 40–60% retain motility after thawing, depending on semen quality. Even a single cryopreserved specimen can support multiple fertility attempts with today’s advanced reproductive technologies.

What if I already started hormone therapy?
If you’re beginning gender-affirming hormone therapy, freeze your sperm beforehand. Starting hormones may reduce or eliminate viable sperm. If you’ve already started, consult your doctor before ordering. Note: If a kit is unused or contains no viable sperm, only a partial refund is available.

How does at-home sperm banking work?
The kit ships overnight to your home (M–Th, if ordered by 1 PM CT). You collect your sample privately and return it using the prepaid FedEx label. The included media acts as a protective holding solution to keep sperm alive and stable during transit. Once received, your specimen is analyzed and frozen at the University of Illinois–Chicago Andrology Lab, then transferred to ReproTech for secure, long-term storage—with an option for dual-location protection.

What about future pregnancy?
Your doctor will guide the right fertility treatment based on your specimen quality. Options range from intrauterine insemination (IUI) for normal samples to IVF/ICSI for lower counts or motility. Specimens can be shipped to your clinic when needed—please allow 30 days for arrangements.
