Infertility Never Leaves Us: Finding Connection, Hope, and Purpose Through the Journey
The Journey That Changed Everything
I say this often: infertility never leaves us. My journey began in 2000 and, by the end of 2002, I gave birth to my daughter. But the months in between changed everything. Those were the days I learned what it meant to truly empathize—with others, and with myself.
During that time, I often felt incredibly alone. Infertility has a way of isolating you, even when you’re surrounded by people. But when I discovered RESOLVE and asked about local support groups, things began to shift. I attended a drop-in meeting and immediately felt a sense of calm. I wasn’t alone—and I never had been.
Finding My People

Soon after, I joined a small, facilitated support group. That space gave me so much: resilience, grace, and connection with others who got it. People who didn’t need me to explain the weight of a diagnosis or the heartbreak of another failed cycle. We just knew.
Some of those friendships are still with me today. Our IVF children are now in college—a reminder of how far we’ve come.
From Patient to Advocate
By the time my son was born, less than two years after my daughter, I felt a strong pull to give back. I became a RESOLVE volunteer and eventually, in 2011, began working in the field of reproductive medicine. My personal experience shaped how I show up in this work—with compassion, with urgency, and with reverence for what others are going through.
Infertility doesn’t just mark a moment in time; it stays with you. Even now, I still feel the ache for those receiving their diagnosis for the first time. I think of the sleepless nights, the strain on relationships, the loss of hope, and the moments we silently begged for a miracle. And I know the strength it takes just to keep going.
Hope, Frozen in Time
My diagnosis was “unexplained infertility.” It was frustrating—so many tests and no clear answers. But IVF offered a path forward. We were able to freeze eight precious embryos and send them to long-term storage. Those embryos represented so much more than a medical procedure. They were our future. Our chance. Our hope.
That’s why I find so much purpose in what I do today. When clients come to us [ReproTech] for cryostorage, they’re placing their trust—and their dreams—in our hands. I understand what that means. To play a role in someone’s fertility journey is an incredible honor. We’re not just storing tissue—we’re safeguarding futures.
